This Next G Alliance report provides a strategic blueprint for securing the spectrum needed to support commercial 6G networks in the United States by 2030. It examines the emerging U.S. spectrum pipeline, including five key frequency ranges under study by the NTIA and FCC, and evaluates the technical, regulatory, and policy challenges involved in making this spectrum available for commercial wireless use.

The report also examines the One Big Beautiful Bill Act’s mandate to repurpose 800 MHz of spectrum for commercial mobile use by 2033 and its implications for U.S. leadership in 6G. It highlights the importance of access to large blocks of mid-band spectrum to support advanced applications such as robotics, automation, immersive technologies, and next-generation communications, while considering the complementary role of satellite-based MSS and Supplementary Coverage from Space in extending 6G connectivity.

The Next G Alliance recommends prioritizing spectrum bands capable of providing large contiguous blocks, accelerating engineering studies of incumbent systems, pursuing international harmonization where feasible, and establishing realistic transition plans that enable early 6G deployment while positioning the United States to remain competitive in the global 6G ecosystem.
