Technology Roadmap

— Developing and maintaining a lifecycle roadmap for 6G that extends from research to market readiness.

The Technology Roadmap Working Group (WG) focuses on long-term technology development by continuing pre-standardization efforts and charting the evolution of future 6G technologies. Its mission is to foster collaboration across the North American industry and promote North American perspectives on 6G technology advancement. The WG will monitor and assess the progression of key technologies and related standards, aligning this work with 6G requirements, KPIs, and priority topics identified by other NGA WGs.

The group will explore and advocate for 6G technologies and research areas, including those that address vertical ecosystems and advanced 6G capabilities, with the goal of shaping and contributing to the 6G vision and technology roadmap for North America. This will involve analyzing and helping to guide the development of external testbeds, trials, and other initiatives to evaluate research outcomes and technology readiness. Deliverables will include materials designed to inform and influence academia, research institutions, standards development organizations (SDO’s), and government agencies.
